40 Day Devotional, Day 40: Follow

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

(Matthew 4:18-20 NIV)

Peter and Andrew were hard at work one day when Jesus called them. “I will send you out to fish for people,” said Jesus, using a metaphor from their profession. Fishing took on new meaning and gave these brothers a new sense of purpose.

God can take your profession—your skills and expertise—and give it new purpose.

ACTION: Reflect. What part of your life will Jesus use to serve the world He loves?
